Billionaire tech mogul Elon Musk has announced that he has fired the intern managing his Twitter account and posting tweets on his behalf. According to Musk, the individual in question was an “idiot” who had been causing him no end of embarrassment with his ill-advised tweets.
“I simply couldn’t take it anymore,” Musk said in a statement released to the press. “This guy was supposed to be representing me and my companies on social media, and instead, he was making me look like a complete fool.”
Musk went on to explain that he had repeatedly tried to reason with the errant tweeter, but to no avail. “I told him time and time again that he needed to be more careful with his words, but it was like talking to a brick wall. “He just didn’t seem to get it.”
According to Musk, the last straw was when the posts turned politically divisive.
“I mean come on man, why would you do that? Getting involved in political mudslinging only accomplishes one thing, making one side or the other upset. There’s no upside to it.” Musk was clearly annoyed as he said, “Yeah, I’ve had enough. That guy had to go.”
It’s not hard to see why Musk was so upset. Over the past few years, his Twitter account has become infamous for its erratic and often bizarre tweets, which have ranged from cryptic messages about AI to inappropriate comments about public figures. Many have accused Musk of using his social media platform to manipulate stock prices and distract from controversies surrounding his various business ventures.
“It’s not that I don’t care about political issues,” Musk added. “I just want to stay focused on sustainable energy and space exploration.”
Elon Must runs 5 companies and his time is precious. “I don’t have a lot of time to mess around on Twitter,” Musk said. “That’s why I hired this guy in the first place.”
