A new poll has found that the two major political parties in the United States, the Democrats and the Republicans, now represent less than 1% of the population with 0.5% of Americans now identifying as Democrats and 0.3% as Republicans.
This shocking news has left the remaining 99% of Americans wondering who they should turn to for political guidance and representation.
One voter, who asked to remain anonymous, had this to say: “Both parties are worthless. They’re too busy bickering and fighting with each other to actually get anything done. We need a political party that actually represents the people.”
Another voter, who also wished to remain anonymous, said: “I don’t fit into either party. I’m tired of being told that I have to choose between two extreme ideologies. We need a more inclusive political system that actually listens to the concerns of most Americans.”
However, not everyone is on board with the idea of creating a third party to represent the other 99%. “A political party that actually represents people? That’s just crazy talk,” said Senator Ted Cruz.
Other politicians are even more skeptical of the idea that the other 99% of Americans deserve a voice in politics. “I mean we can’t represent everyone,” Elizabeth Warren responded. “I mean sure there’s no party for that tiny 99% of the population, but what else can we do? I hate to say it, but 99% is too small to really matter.”
As the political landscape in America continues to shift, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the country. Will a third party emerge to represent the other 99%, or will the Democrats and Republicans continue to dominate the political scene? Only time will tell.
